Sports day 2018
We were very lucky with the weather for our sports day. It held off long enough for everyone to have a great day of sport and community on our grassy pitch. Many thanks to our Parents’ Association and Mr. Breen for all their work in organising this great day! There was a tasty BBQ and a fresh fruit stall which provided much needed refreshment for our athletes. We had face painting and there was lots of music playing throughout the day! Each child received a medal for their participation. Thanks also to Anthony Masterson who came and entered into the spirit of the day!

Active Week – Day 5
We rounded off Active Week in style with a Friday full of fun! We started the day with an epic circuit course organised by Mr. Breen and supported by Fiona. There were over 18 stations!! We had fun in the sun at each station whilst listening to some great music in the background! We then welcomed former #1 Women’s tennis seed, Yvonne Doyle to speak with our students. Yvonne is also a mindfulness coach and each class took part in some coached mindfulness after a busy week! There were various activities during the day and the week finished with ‘Walk a Mile with a Smile’. It was great to see … Continue reading

Active Week- Days 3 and 4
I am just catching up on an epic two days! Yesterday, we had the honour of welcoming Castletown’s own Mary Hickey to mark her Lap of the Map achievement. She gave a wonderful Q&A session to our very interested students and we were delighted to welcome members of her own family and Fr. McCarney to the talk. Thank you to the PA who again facilitated the refreshments. The weather was on our side today as we embarked on our walk up Croghan. Big thanks to the site workers for stewarding the parking and giving us such a warm welcome. I was delighted at how well the children behaved and I … Continue reading

Active Week – day 2!
Today started off with a bang, or a boom, as 5th class taught the floss dance to the school. Shayla explained like a pro!! ‘Boom’ was played over the speakers and the sun shone! Well done to Siofra and Daniel who demonstrated! We also had a master class in shuffling from some 6th class students. We saw the infant classes take part in their Tug of War competition! How can they look so cute and fierce all at the same time! We keep bumping into other classes outdoors as we avail of the great weather and the fantastic activities that have been planned for us. We are having a ball! … Continue reading

Rackard League and Mini 7s update
With a win today against Craanford it puts us in a great position to qualify for the A quarter final with one game left in the league stages against Kilrush next Monday in Kilrush. The mini 7s semi final takes place this Friday in Monageer. The panel of players are putting in a huge effort and continue to represent the school excellently each day they take to the field. Well Done! The girls’ Rackard League put in a great performance today and were unlucky to have lost their match against Loreto at home. The girls have a busy week ahead with catch up games due to the inclement weather. We … Continue reading
