Aistear – an insight

Here is an insight to the wonderful world of Aistear. Aistear promotes the importance of learning through play. Junior and Senior infants have this week been engrossed in the theme of farming. The pictures above show the socio-dramatic area (pretend play!), the construction area, small world area and junk art. The thematic approach has proven to be very successful. An Apple a Day…..

Many thanks to Graeme and Robyn’s dad Shane and his colleague Amy of Sprint College who gave of their time to do a healthy eating workshop with each class today! The children enjoyed a crunchy fresh apple whilst they learned about the food pyramid! The level of questioning was great from the children and Shane and Amy had put together a really interesting presentation for each level! We are so lucky to have such interested parents among us. Just another example of our wonderful relationship with parents. Thanks to Ms D’Arcy who coordinated this experience as part of our Active School work.
