John Spillane – an interactive concert

Today was great fun! We enjoyed a concert with John Spillane who played a repertoire of Irish songs that we had been learning for the last few weeks. He was very impressed by how well we both knew and sang them! This was made possible by money collected at our Christmas concert, so thank you once again! To see video, click the link below. Engineers’ week

What a fun day we have just had! Bricks4kidz came to our school and coordinated a workshop with each class where the children were tasked with constructing a car. We looked at gears and explored the notion of engineering. The team were great fun and we loved having our own individual toolkits! Perhaps we have unlocked some engineering potential today!!

Pancake Tuesday

What a treat! Concepta, Sandy, Sinéad, David and little Rachel were on hand to serve us delicious pancakes for Pancake Tuesday! Thank you to the PA for sponsoring this lovely treat. It is safe to say that if it were a Maths lesson and we were tallying data, that Nutella would be by far the highest on the bar chart!

Grandparents’ Day

What a lovely day we have had! It was wonderful to see such a great turnout of grandparents at our mass and reception today. Fr. McCarney celebrated a very special mass and our children performed their jobs really well. Thank you to Ms. Byrne for coordinating this special mass and to Ms Murphy for her beautiful violin playing. Back in school, the grandparents were treated to performances in each classroom and a tour of the school. They were then treated to an afternoon tea selection of cakes and sandwiches which was served by our very hard working Parents’ Association. Grandparents were gifted with a bookmark to remember the occasion and … Continue reading

Here are our students enjoying their new hurls in the sunshine! The timing is great – we hope to score lots of points with these new hurls in the upcoming Rackard and Mini 7s leagues!

Green flag: Biodiversity

At Assembly on Friday, we had a really interesting presentation from our Green School Committee members around the theme of biodiversity. We explored what biodiversity is and looked at different types of habitats. Our students are now taking part in Spring Watch – students can record first sightings of new life with our green school committee and may even receive a little treat from Ms. Russell! Thanks to Ms. McDevitt for all her hard work and dedication in the green school initiative. Thanks too to Carmel for maintaining our crocus plants. They have now been arranged into a star shape in memory of the children who were lost in the … Continue reading
