Day 5: Nature and Climate Summit – school clean up
Friday 05/11/2021 What a great way to finish ClimateandNatureSummit21! 5th/6th class presented their findings on sustainable farming, deforestation and climate change to 3rd/4th class in our outdoor classroom. Look at that sky!! Thanks to all who got stuck in for a school clean up last thing today – we are so lucky to have such beautiful grounds!

Our New Student Council and Team Hope
Our new Student Council – we love giving a platform for the student voice. Here the newly formed council are coordinating the Team Hope Shoe Box Appeal – well done to all and thanks to all who contributed. Thanks also to Ms. Whittle who is bringing extra boxes to Wicklow! We look forward to hearing their opinions over the year!

Here 5th and 6th class are combining their digital learning with a lesson around sustainable goals and climate change. They did some personal research and enjoyed learning from the ultimate conservationist, David Attenborough!

Climate and Nature Summit 2021
As a Green School we are registered participants in the Climate and Nature Summit 2021 which is running this week. We have a newly formed Green Committee coordinated by Ms. McDevitt, Finola and Sharon (pics to follow!) and they have been given brand new shiny badges so that we can easily identify them in school! Today some classes learned about Picker Pals. We are so close to beautiful beaches and have used them for walks, lessons on biodiversity and for sandcastle competitions! Dangerous sweets – a warning from Food Safety Authority of Ireland
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has asked the Department to assist in sending out a message through school communities to parents. Please see below its warning about the danger associated with eating edible products, such as jelly sweets, containing cannabis components. Warning regarding jelly sweets containing cannabis (THC) The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) is urging parents and guardians to be extremely vigilant to the dangers of their children getting access to and eating confectionary, particularly jelly sweets, containing significant amounts of the psychoactive cannabis component called tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Maths Week 2021
Maths Eyes competition Each year, we run the Maths Eyes competition. This is where we encourage our pupils to see Maths in real life, outside teh text book and Maths lesson. We can’t wait to upload our entries as they come in. We have extended the deadline until after Hallowe’en to allow children to observe Maths patterns, algebra, shapes, operations and data that occurs over mid term.
