Engineers Week 2022

We have had an amazing week in school celebrating Engineers Week! Each class has engaged in engineering projects and had lots of fun through active learning in the process! Have a look through our pictures. Thanks to Kietan who represented Wexford County Council with a presentation on renewable energy to 5th and 6th class Our classes have also been challenged to a tower building competition – considering materials, modifications and reinforcements where necessary. We love the variety of entries so far. Stay tuned for the results next week!

A visit to the library

Pictured: lucky 1st and 2nd class had a trip to the library today. Their speaker had to cancel at short notice but we arranged for them to go on a library detective hunt instead. They enjoyed stories there and received a free book to mark World Book Day tomorrow. I am delighted with how well they behaved.

Irish Times: Our Views on Ukraine

We are delighted to have been asked by journalist Jen Hogan to contribute to an Irish Times article on how the war in Ukraine is affecting children. At an age appropriate level (3rd-6th class), I will talk a little about it on Friday at assembly as children may well be thinking about it. There is some good advice for parents in this article. Thank you to our wonderful contributors who showed great empathy in their feedback. https://www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/health-family/parenting/how-to-talk-to-your-children-about-the-invasion-of-ukraine-1.4816178
