Inspired by Maud Lewis – Nova Scotia

We are stunned by the beauty and individualism of these paintings by 3rd/4th class. They were inspired by the artist Maud Lewis – Nova Scotia. Looking and responding at its finest. Well done Ms. Ní Shúilleabháin and class!

Hedgehog tracking!

Our Green School Committee is conducting research as part of a national tracking of hedgehogs this week. They have set out a little shelter with hedgehog suitable food and water. They have placed a mixture of oil and paint (it’s safe -we checked!!) so as to catch some footprints! So far we have no results but we have a hunch that there might be a family of hedgehogs around so fingers crossed they visit! Stay tuned!

A visit from Carol Carr – Paralympic Gold Medalist!

We had a super opportunity today in that we welcomed Irish Paralympic gold medalist Carol Carr to our school. Carol brought her guide dog Arlo who was a hit with the children too! Carol shared her experiences as a female athlete with disablities and was most inspiring. We feel that it is so important to promote both inclusion and gender equality in sport so this was a fantastic experience and we are grateful to Lisa Hempenstall for arranging this visit. The children were enabled to see Braille and see Carol’s Hall of Fame certificate and her gold and bronze medals. We hope the children take something from this visit.

We were also pleased to welcome … Continue reading
