The current building work has captured the curiosity and imagination of jnr and snr infants and they are exploring The Construction Site in Aistear. Some future quantity surveyors in our midst! Only a few weeks until we move in to our new rooms!

Some nature base play captured! We have big plans for nature based learning going forward and may be asking parents with skills to come on board as we develop this area. More to follow…..

Caoimhe and Tabitha dictated an email to me which we sent to the Parents’ Association in response to their survey regarding the 6th class gift. Hearing the pupil voice is so important to us and we are grateful to the PA for extending this invitation to the pupils. It’s also important that we model gratitude for such kind gestures. Well done girls!

Our incubation project is bringing out great curiosity in our pupils. This interactive way of learning about life processes in a hands on way will be much more beneficial and indeed memorable than text book work! Children will monitor the progress and development of the eggs and their contents and will be responsible for ensuring that conditions are maintained. We will keep you posted!

Our corridors are awash with vibrant colour and individual art pieces. It is a pleasure to walk from room to room. We hope you enjoy seeing them too.

Mr. Breen has taken on a new programme called ‘Sport Education in Physical Education,’ with his 5th/6th class. Sport Education is a specific evidence informed approach to teaching P.E class. It makes sport experiences in P.E more authentic to real life and accordingly prepare children to participate in recreational physical activity outside of school. Ultimately it encourages development of competent, literate, enthusiastic sports people. We are so lucky to have such giving staff here!

We are piloting a new spellings programme – Spellings for Me – in our middle classes. We hope that this tailored, digital approach will suit each individual learner and look forward to monitoring its progress.

It was just too hot for uniforms today!!A huge thank you to Laura and the PA for the perfectly timed donation of ice pops today – we all loved them and our builders were delighted with the cool relief!

Here is some information for parents on the incoming Maths Curriculum. We will be upskilling over the coming academic year and implementation will take place next year.
