It was a great weekend for GAA in Castletown with the senior men’s team progressing to the intermediate hurling county final! We are delighted for them and wish them a great win. Children may wear jerseys on Friday to support.
We do have ONE difficulty though….Mr. Breen will be playing for the opposition!! Despite Ms. Walker’s best efforts to convert him to maroon and white, he will play against Castletown on Saturday for Tara Rocks. He is going to have a tough week ahead I imagine!
The match is at 4pm this Saturday in Wexford Park.
* Congratulations to the u-12 girls who beat Tara Rocks at the weekend – hopefully this is a good omen!
* Congratulations to Ellen, Niamh and Jessica who were presented with their county final football medals at the weekend!
* Congratulations to John, Ravindra and Kian who will play in the county final for both football and hurling in the next fortnight!
* As an Active School we truly believe in healthy mind, healthy body. We hope that these achievements might encourage more children to join the local club.
*Pictured: The last time Castletown won the hurling county final was 56 years ago. In the picture is our SNA Fiona’s dad who was a great player in his day! Also pictured is our wonderful chairperson Joe O’Shaughnessy who has always been an ardent supporter of GAA (and everything else!!) in our school. I’m sure Joe would love to see the cup coming home this weekend!
Have a lovely evening
