Scoil Ghormáin Naofa has joined Amnesty International’s Friendship Week campaign 2015. This is a special initiative that promotes friendship and that encourages children to be kind to one another.
‘Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echos can be truly endless!’
A Friendship Week noticeboard has been set up with a positive thought for each day and inspirational quotes to promote friendship.
Our Friendship noticeboard contains a Friendship Fish based on the story of ‘The Rainbow Fish’ where our junior classes record kind deeds that they have carried out during the week. We also have a ‘Random Act of Kindness’ wall. This encourages the senior children to carry out a random act of kindness and affords the child who is receipt of the act the opportunity to record this for the school to see.
‘Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you’. (Princess Diana)
Everyone in Scoil Ghormáin Naofa is invited to take part in this initiative from Junior infants to 6th class, teaching staff and non teaching staff, parents and members of our community.
Remember it costs nothing but it might make someones day! What will your random act of kindness be?!
