We are very excited about the coming year, with lots of plans afoot for Music and the Arts.

I am delighted to announce that we have successfully secured Music Generation for our school. This year, they will work with 3rd/4th class, teaching strings for 28 weeks. The exact instrument is to be confirmed. It is hoped that this will be a sustainable project that will embed in our school’s culture. Many thanks to Ms. ní Shúilleabháin for her enthusiasm in applying for this for our school. We are very excited!!

We are also currently practising for our performance at The Big Sing for Mental Health in Arklow in October. 3rd-6th will perform. Watch this space for updates!

Our Christmas concert will take place on Wednesday, 18th December in the church.

We look forward to Arklow Music Festival performances in March!

Congratulations to our beautiful singers who sang so sweetly at our Mass to celebrate our new school year!

More to come…..

We have a wonderful culture of music here at Scoil Ghormáin Naofa. At Christmas Ms. Russsell, Ms. Byrne and Ms. Murphy all performed at our Christmas Concert. Ms. Byrne regularly takes our students for choir performances.

In September, our 5th and 6th class students performed at the Big Sing for Mental Health in Glenart College, Arklow under the direction of Ms. Russell and Ms. Byrne.

All classes from 3rd to 6th travelled to Wexford in November to take part in Sing Out Loud in Wexford Opera House – what an experience that was!! One that we will never forget!

Classes are currently learning a repertoire of Irish songs in anticipation of a visit from John Spillane ahead of Seachtain na Gaeilge. The repertoire includes songs that older generations would learn in school and the students are having great fun learning them!
